Fide Master L N Ram Aravind and Woman Fide Master Chidambaram Lakshmi clinched a double crown for Tamil Nadu by winning the open and girls’ titles respectively in the 28th National Under-11 Chess Championship here at hotel Rumani today.
Top seed Aravind, who was shocked in the 10th round by West Bengal Candidate Master Aronyak Ghosh earlier on Thursday, drew his last-round duel against Arjun Erigaisi (Telengana) to retain the title with 9.5 points.
This was the fourth National title for Aravind, who had claimed his earlier two in the under-7 and under-9 championships. A student of Chennai-based Chess Gurukul, Aravind dedicated the latest crown to his coach Grandmaster R B Ramesh.
